Basic troubleshooting steps for Chromecast

Clear cache / data on Chromecast

Chromecast with Google TV: Settings > Apps > See all apps > the app > Clear cache, then Clear data.

Older Chromecast (cast only): there is no on-device app — clear the cache of the app on the phone/tablet you cast from.

Delete app on Chromecast

1. From the home screen, go to Settings > Apps.

2. Select See all apps.

3. Choose the app and select Uninstall.


Install app on Chromecast

1. Press the Assistant button or select Search.

2. Say or type the app name.

3. Select Install if available.

Update App on Chromecast/Google TV

Play Store → My Apps → find the app → Update.

Update Chromecast Software



1. Go to the home screen

2. Choose All settings and then System

3. Select About and then System update.

Turn off Chromecast/Google TV Streamer

Press the power button on the remote.

Turn off & Unplug Chromecast/Google TV Streamer

Press the power button on the remote.

Unplug the power from the wall outlet

Restart Modem

1.Unplug modem from wall.

2.Wait 1 full minute.

3.Plug modem into wall, wait a few minutes for modem to reconnect to the internet.

Restart Chromecast from Settings

1. Settings (top right on tv)

2. System

3. Restart

4. for Chromecast with Google TV select Restart again
