Basic troubleshooting steps for Apple TV

Clear cache / data on Apple TV

tvOS has no clear-cache option, so delete and reinstall the app.

1. On the Home screen, highlight the app and hold the touchpad until it jiggles.

2. Press Play/Pause, then select Delete.

3. Reinstall from the App Store and sign back in.

1. From the Home Screen, highlight the app.

2. Press and hold the touch surface until it jiggles.

3. Press Play/Pause, then select Delete.


Install app on Apple TV

1. Go to the App Store.

2. Browse or search for the app.

3. Select Get (free).

Update App on Apple TV

App Store → Purchased → find the app → Update if available.

Update Apple TV Software

1. Go to Settings > System > Software Updates.

2. Select Update Software

3. If there is an update, select Download and Install

4. Wait for your Apple TV to download the update.

5. Keep your Apple TV connected and plugged in to power until the update is complete.

After the update downloads, your Apple TV will restart, prepare the update, then install it. When the update is complete, your Apple TV will automatically restart again.

Turn off Apple TV

Press and hold power button on the remote (silver remote only).

Or press and hold the TV Icon button on the remote to open Control Center, then select Power Off in Control Center.

Or on Apple TV 4K by opening Settings and selecting Power Off.

Turn off & Unplug Apple TV

Press and hold power button on the remote (silver remote only).

After Tv is turned off, unplug from the wall outlet

Restart Modem

1.Unplug modem from wall.

2.Wait 1 full minute.

3.Plug modem into wall, wait a few minutes for modem to reconnect to the internet.
